TYCO BEACH REEF

General Description:
Tyco Beach Reef gets its name from its proximity to the Tyco Beach Resort area. The resort is a small resort located at the south end of Bay Bay Boulevard in Culasi. The road parallels the beach and the market area in Culasi. The dive site is located approximately 1000 meters offshore directly in front of the resort area. The reef is as shallow as 5 meters and descends to a depth of 18 meters. The reef is composed of hard corals with few pelagic fish. The hard coral is very healthy and shows signs of continued growth. The area is good for muck divers to photograph small marine life.
The reef is accessible by boat. It is a 5 minute ride from the end of Bay Bay Boulevard. It is not necessary to lay anchor in the area. The current is not strong and the bottom is visible from the surface. We estimate visibility at 20 meters (October 2005). The site is great for those divers looking for a relaxing, shallow dive.
